Our Mathematics and Actuarial Science degree introduces you to the world of an actuary, allowing you to build your technical mathematical skills, as well as developing your business understanding and helping you to become ready to join the world of industry.
The MMath in Mathematics and Actuarial Science degree builds on the BSc and allows you to apply the technical skills you’ve gained to real-world type situations, such as managing risk in a pension scheme, or identifying investments for an insurer.
On this degree you will become comfortable with data and with its manipulation, studying core modules on data science and artificial intelligence. You will also develop great team working skills and persuasive communication techniques. Crucially, you’ll be in a position to know why you are in an organisation and what you can contribute.
Completing the BSc degree can lead to you obtaining exemptions from the first tier Core Principles exams of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ (CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1 and CB2). If you extend your studies to the MMath, you will study modules which can lead to further exemptions from the three Core Practice exams of the IFoA (CP1, CP2 and CP3). This will help put you firmly on the pathway to becoming an actuary.
