Our Belfast Retirement Service Centre is an established centre of excellence, specialising in a wide range of retirement solutions, providing the technical expertise and support to our European Retirement markets. Joining as a Graduate Retirement Analyst within our Retirement Service Centre, you will fulfill a fundamental role in providing pension solutions across our wide range of services.

Key duties will include;

  • Complex defined benefit modelling including advanced actuarial skills and techniques specialising in complex UK and European pension solutions
  • Detailed analysis of pension membership data, preparation of valuation data and data reconciliation
  • Process design, process implementation, process optimisation and a proven track record in continuous improvement
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills aligned with an in depth knowledge of the wider pensions industry both from a legislative and a client need perspective
  • Developing expertise in excel, VBA and Mercer in house technology enabling high quality IT and product solution development
  • Documenting own work to a very high standard and comply with Mercer processes to deliver high quality work
  • Performing in accordance with financial targets and standards; time recording, budget monitoring, billing and all other aspects of financial management
  • Working in partnership and developing relationships with internal teams, across lines of businesses
  • High flexibility allowing scalability and adaptable in the services and solutions we provide
  • Providing support to senior colleagues to deliver a streamlined service to other lines of business within Mercer
  • Developing coaching and delegation skills

As you develop into your career, our Retirement Service Centre opens up a number of paths that allow you to focus on your strengths and interests. These include:

  • Service Manager responsible for on boarding new services to the Belfast Retirement Service Centre
  • People Manager, developing and coaching and leading people in their career choices
  • Team Leader, leading a team to deliver multiple services across all lines of business

Requirements and skills:

  • Minimum of 300 UCAS points, minimum 2:1 honours degree expected or obtained ideally in a numerical or semi- numerical degree (equivalent qualifications are accepted)
  • An interest in financial markets and pensions
  • Willingness to complete relevant professional qualifications
  • Self-motivated, eagerness to learn and to keep up to date with the respective industry trends and market conditions
  • Ability to work as part of a team and within a collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relationship building skills
  • Work well under pressure and strong time management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail ensuring quality and delivery in line with deadlines
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a good work-life balance
  • Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Mircosoft office, in particular Excel
