Pension provision in the UK is entering a new era with DC at its core. To respond to this challenge, Mercer has established a specialist business focused purely on DC and wider savings. This team, which now exceeds 70 professionals across the UK, grew at over 25% in 2014 and is budgeted to grow in excess of 20% in 2015.
DC&S is a key growth engine within Mercer. In order to continue the growth of our DC & Saving specialism across the UK, we are seeking to recruit graduates to work closely with our colleagues. As part of the UK-wide DC&S team, you will work in your respective office to continue to develop Mercer’s reputation as the leading advisor in DC pensions and workplace savings. Specifically, you will provide support on client relationships, revenue growth, delivery of technical consulting and co-ordination of services to DC&S clients.

As a Graduate DC Analyst, key duties will include:

  • Provide input to Mercer advice on DC issues and regulatory developments, both to trustee and employer clients.
  • Assist with DC financial modelling to support client consulting opportunities using house tools and databases for analysis.
  • Produce reports and presentations on appropriate DC client consulting issues, and assist with delivery, including the production and checking of monitoring reports
  • Dealing with routine queries received from clients, investment managers, providers and other third parties
  • Liaising with providers and investment managers to obtain data, and subsequently analysing data received
  • Communicating effectively to external and internal clients in a non-technical manner
  • Developing understanding of client needs in order to be able to deliver high standards of client service
  • Performing in accordance with financial targets and standards; time recording, budget monitoring, billing and all other aspects of financial management
  • Working in partnership and developing relationships with internal teams, across lines of businesses and with both corporate and trustee clients
  • Assisting more experienced analysts and consultants in preparation for client meetings, including production of meeting papers, and supporting management of actions
  • Ensuring a high standard of professionalism and adherence to Mercer codes of practice

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2:1 honours degree expected or obtained (ideally in a numerical or semi- numerical degree) – equivalent qualifications are accepted
  • Minimum of 300 UCAS points, Minimum B in all subjects at A levels
  • An interest in financial markets and pensions
  • Willingness to complete relevant professional qualifications, such as PMI
  • Self-motivated, eagerness to learn and to keep up to date with the respective industry trends and market conditions
  • A strong interest to work and advance career within the pensions industry
  • Ability to work as part of a team and within a collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Relationship building skills and understanding of customer service principles
  • Work well under pressure and strong time management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail ensuring quality and delivery in line with deadlines
