What will you be doing?

You will be a senior member of the Zurich Municipal Pricing team with responsibility across all lines and segmentations of business. Responsibilities include:

  • Pricing tools – Lead the construction of new pricing tools and work closely with key stakeholders to devise strategies to further develop the rating landscape. Devise a maintenance plan for our current suite of pricing tools, working across various platforms and working closely with underwriters. Ownership and monitoring of technical price assumptions and market pricing decisions.
  • Case pricing – Perform case pricing exercises on the most material Zurich Municipal risks, review and sign-off pricing exercises performed by other team members and look to improve the case pricing process.
  • Ultimate performance projections – Manage the end-to-end process of delivering ultimate projections of performance across all lines to form an independent Underwriting view of profitability.
  • Portfolio management – working with underwriters to lead underwriting strategies to improve and grow our portfolios. Lead the delivery of pricing and portfolio management solutions across multiple portfolios, through advanced analytics, data analysis and modelling. Regular monitoring and reporting of key trends to senior stakeholders in the UK and to Group.
  • Technical skills – the chance to constantly challenge yourself through innovation and adaptation of new technologies with opportunities to learn and apply SQL, R/Python, Power BI & more.
  • Culture – contributing to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Collaboration – building strong relationships across the company (underwriting, reserving, finance and claims), providing trusted insights and helping to foster a strong data-driven culture.
  • Leadership – Support and supervise 3 colleagues through coaching of technical and non-technical skills. Provide regular training and support to the actuarial and underwriting communities with a specific focus on best practice.
  • Process improvement – continuously improving and challenging our processes to drive further efficiencies for the team and underwriters.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified actuary. Newly/nearly qualified considered.
  • Experience managing others
  • Experience gained in an actuarial role
  • Excellent knowledge of actuarial professional guidance
  • Market, risk and business awareness
  • Excellent knowledge of insurance products and industry
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Technical experience – MS Office suite, coding languages (R, Python, VBA, SQL)
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage own and other team members work portfolio
