Start Date: September 2025
Closing date for applications: Sunday 20th October 2024

Insurance is so much more than you think!

Are you looking for a career that will excite, challenge and inspire you after you’ve finished university? If so, a Zurich Insurance graduate scheme could be just what you’re looking for. It’s a great way to get real-life experience of working in insurance and discover what you enjoy. You’ll get plenty of opportunities and support to shape your career and make a difference to our customers at a time when they need us the most.

Each Zurich graduate scheme is a permanent role and is just the start of your career with us. We’ll continue to cheer you on every step of the way once you’ve finished and will remain committed to helping you grow. Working in insurance is so varied – you’ll find many different opportunities to explore.

What can I look forward to?

We provide insurance solutions for an immense range of customers: from members of the public, through small and medium sized enterprises, to local government organisations and large multinational corporations. Our actuarial teams drive the pricing and reserving for all these markets.

As part of the actuarial team, you will have the opportunity to develop whilst learning from a group of talented actuaries and analysts both within the UK team, and throughout the wider Group. Before you begin, you’ll be put in touch with a buddy who can help support you with any questions you may have about starting.

Within our General Insurance business there are two streams:

  • Actuarial reserving team - You’ll be calculating the expected level of future claims. By applying statistical techniques, analysing trends including experience against expectations, communicating business insight and estimating capital requirements, you’ll become a valuable member of the reserving function
  • Actuarial pricing team - You’ll help to set the prices for the insurance policies we sell by calculating which risk characteristics lead to higher or lower expected claims costs. As part of this you’ll find yourself analysing profitability, improving approaches to customer segmentation, and developing market-leading pricing technology

As you gain experience, rotations between the two streams are possible based on your appetite.

Along with working alongside qualified actuaries to give you the required professional development to become a qualified actuary, you can also look forward to a comprehensive support programme, including membership and examination fees, study materials, tutorials, and paid study leave. There is also an internal ‘Actuarial Academy’ programme which supplements the graduate programme and actuarial exams, aimed at broadening your actuarial skills and industry knowledge with shadowing opportunities, as well as professional development, to give you all the support you need to be a successful actuary.

We are very serious about investing in our people. As such, we run a mentoring scheme to help guide you through your early experiences and give you advice with structuring your exam and revision time.
