Few things are certain in life. But you can be sure that a paid Summer Internship with Aon will give you a 100% chance of improving your prospects – as well as some invaluable experience besides.
We are a professional services organisation of incredible scope and scale. We help the biggest names in business plan for every eventuality – we’re the world’s #1 insurance broker, the #1 provider of reinsurance, the #1 provider of investment consulting and the #1 provider of human capital consulting.
From increasing demand for natural resources driven by the dynamism of the BRIC economies to the impact on oil prices of ongoing political instability in the Middle East, the issues that face our Insurance, Reinsurance and Risk Management business are many and varied. The constant threat of terrorism, kidnap, military coups and piracy that affect the operations of construction companies, oil producers, airlines, shipping companies and other global businesses all fall into this complex mix.
Life is full of risk; it can’t be controlled, but it can be managed. Our Insurance, Reinsurance and Risk Management Stream predicts and spreads risk so, in the event of major catastrophes, economies can keep going and people can get on with their lives. For example, Aon co-sponsors Tropical Storm Risk (TSR), which provides real-time mapping and prediction of tropical cyclone windfields worldwide, and provides an outlook report to coincide with the start of the Atlantic hurricane season.
You can apply to an internship programme in this area which will last for nine weeks over the summer. This will help to give you a feel for our culture and the opportunity to take on real responsibilities and contribute to our business. You’ll be assigned a mentor to guide you through the placement, while full technical training and business skills development will give you an understanding of the professional services world. In line with our Corporate Social Responsibility policies, we’ll also challenge you to make a difference. You’ll be involved in group charity projects that help local communities which will allow you to demonstrate your ability to work with clients, as well as develop team working and communication skills.
Although an internship does not guarantee a place on our Graduate Programme, many of our interns go on to a successful career with us.
