Barnett Waddingham provides actuarial, investment and consultancy services to pension schemes and charities. As an independent partnership, Barnett Waddingham’s culture focuses on valuing and developing its staff as well as providing clear, high quality advice to all its clients.
Within Barnett Waddingham, the Investment Consulting team focuses on helping our clients decide how to invest their pension scheme’s assets. Our goal is to be the most respected investment consultancy in the UK. We are a dynamic and fast-growing team, priding ourselves on producing bespoke, innovative advice.
It is impossible to provide advice on a client’s assets without understanding its liabilities, which is why a significant proportion of our consultants are actuaries. Providing top quality investment analysis also requires skills and expertise across a broad range of areas including economics, statistics and mathematical modelling, while explaining these complex ideas to our clients requires excellent communication skills.
The investment consulting team is successful because of the diverse mix of people and skills within the team. We are a team that trusts each other to do the right thing, helps each other to do the best we can and loves what we do. We have built a team where everyone can make a difference. If you want to be a part of our team, we would love to hear from you. We are looking to recruit graduates from a broad range of academic backgrounds. Successful candidates will be ambitious, keen problem solvers, with strong consultancy skills.
Qualifying as an actuary requires a significant amount of dedication. You will need to be committed and enthusiastic about continuing your education as well as having a genuine interest in actuarial and investment issues.
You will have a minimum of a 2.1 degree and at least 300 UCAS tariff points, including an ‘A’ grade in A level maths or equivalent qualifications.
From day one you will be involved in a broad range of projects, working directly with different groups of experienced colleagues. Our focus on developing your technical and consulting skills will help to ensure that you get the most possible out of being a member of the team.
As a trainee investment consultant, you will work towards qualification as an actuary and we will give you every support to achieve this, including offering a generous study package.
