The team includes Model Developers, Technical Leads and Product Owners who all work closely together on a variety of change activities and initiatives.
Overview
Key duties (including, but not limited to):
- Making code changes to the prophet model, carrying out testing on those changes, documenting the changes
- Making changes to their assumption manager tools (which generate assumption tables which feed into the prophet model) which are a mix of excel tools, an R script and reference data updates
- Testing Model point file changes developed by an external team (this is the policy level data that feeds the model) including validation of the impact of that change by running it through the prophet model
- Testing changes to their process which pulls ‘out of model adjustments’ into the model
- Integration activity to pull together multiple developments into one version of the model (and associated tools) for release into Live production (this happens a few times a year)
- Looking into queries raised by customer teams to understand what the model is doing/identify if there are defects within the model
Qualifications required:
- Part qualified or recently qualified actuary
Experience required:
- Life insurance or Pension experience
- Knowledge of and ability to apply actuarial concepts and techniques
- The ability to identify key or unexpected outputs and investigate underlying issues
- Strong communication, analytical and Excel skills
- Experience of coding with Prophet, R or other actuarial software is desirable but not essential
