Deadline

30 Nov 2012

The UK has one of the most developed and competitive General Insurance markets in the world. By combining cutting-edge analysis, models and software with commercial and underwriting acumen, you’ll not only help us beat our competitors – you’ll help to re-write the book on insurance analytics.
There are three types of teams here within Actuarial: Pricing & Underwriting, Corporate Actuarial Reserving and Commercial Insurance. You’ll have the opportunity to rotate between them all – gaining knowledge and analytical techniques across the different business areas.
And, with our scale as the UK’s biggest Personal Lines insurer, we have the data to turn into a competitive edge – so you’ll be learning from the very best.
What to expect
• An intensive induction programme, allowing you to learn the fundamentals of pricing, underwriting or reserving work and to get to know your fellow graduates.
• Continuous training throughout your career via on-the-job coaching and more formal courses in order to improve your knowledge of the industry you’re working in.
• Mentoring from a study, work and career progression perspective to provide guidance on objectives and how you can achieve the best at Direct Line Group.
• Study leave, study groups with peers and financial support for the cost of study materials, tutorials and mock exam papers to help you progress to qualification as an actuary or other relevant professional qualification.
Who we’re looking for:
The projects here involve a lot of cross-department working, so we need people who can work well in a team. Graduates joining one of our Actuarial teams will also need to divide time between working in the office and studying to qualify as an Actuary with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries – so you’ll need considerable self-motivation and discipline too. In addition, we’re looking for:
• Excellent numeracy skills
• The ability to translate complex data for non-technical colleagues
• Exceptional people skills
• An ambitious approach.

  • Job Type: Graduate Job
  • Location: Bromley, Croydon, Glasgow, Leeds & London
