About us:

We’re a big organisation, but our purpose is simple, helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. We do this by providing a broad range of healthcare services, support and advice to people throughout their lives. At Bupa, we have no shareholders. Our priority is our customers and you.

We believe that our healthcare should be accessible to all – for now and in the future. We do this by reinvesting our profits into better healthcare and letting our people have the freedom and support to have a purpose-driven career, whatever path they choose.

Made up of a mixture of Actuaries, trainees and analysts our Actuarial teams work with £1.6bn claims spend on health insurance each year across different areas. So, whether its defining pricing strategy, assessing new ways to serve our customers or keeping Bupa financially sound our Actuarial team sits right at the heart of our business.

The role:

Whether you know what you want to do in the future or are still working that out we believe it’s important to try it for yourself. That’s why over the course of your 12 month placement you’ll gain a deep and valuable insight into the Actuarial world following your second year at University, equipping you with knowledge, skills and experience needed to start shaping your future career.

During your placement you’ll focus on one particular function within our Actuarial teams, getting to know the in’s and out’s of how the team operates and how they work together to drive our business forward. The functions on offer may include:

  • Pricing
  • Reserving
  • Regulatory Reporting
  • Claims Analytics

No two days will be the same during your placement. You’ll be challenged, tested and supported by your team to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and shadow senior colleagues within the business, gaining valuable insights from them whilst building your network.

At the end of your placement there’s also potential to be fast tracked for a place on our Graduate scheme after your final year at university.
