We’re AXA, the world’s number one insurance brand, with some 163,000 people globally and a presence in 57 countries – that’s 29% of all the countries in the world. So yes, we’re big, impressively and successfully big. But we also appreciate the merits of small and take in no more than 30 graduates a year. Not a lot, in the big graduate scheme of things. But it means a lot to you: it means you have our undivided attention. You’re one of a select few, not one of far too many.
Our Actuarial Graduate Programme
In 2011, AXA Group’s global revenue was a staggering €86.1billion. More than Tesco, more than Honda, more than Apple. Impressive, we think you’ll agree. It also demonstrates the importance of effectively assessing financial risks, designing and pricing products, and calculating the amount of money we need to hold. That’s why actuaries are so important to us. Actuaries make financial sense of the future. They apply mathematical, statistical and economic models and provide us with expert investment advice.
You’ll work with a number of different business areas, gaining an incredible insight into the role of an actuary. So there’s practical on-the-job training. There’s also formal study. We’ll support you – logistically and financially – to become a qualified Actuary. We’ll give you the training materials, in-house study sessions and all the resources you need; we’ll make sure you have plenty of study leave too.
Who should apply
You’ll need a head for figures, that’s for definite. So we’d like you to have an A grade at A-level Maths (or an equivalent qualification), as well as a 2:1 in a numerical degree. And because of your statistical background, it goes without saying that you’re analytical and methodical. Potential’s massively important. We don’t expect you to know everything about economic and statistical modelling just yet. But we do expect you to be a quick and keen learner, ready to make the most of the opportunities that will come your way.
