About us

We are AXA, the number one global insurance brand (as ranked by Interbrand 2015, for the seventh year running) and a world leader in asset management. We are constantly transforming our business so that we can protect people better. But to make change happen, to keep moving forwards, we need graduates with drive and ambition. Graduates who want to put their ideas and creative thinking into practice. Graduates who are determined to Challenge Everything.

Actuarial Internship Programme

In 2015, AXA Group’s total revenues were almost €98 billion. Impressive, we think you’ll agree. It also demonstrates the importance of effectively assessing financial risks, designing and pricing products, and calculating the amount of money we need to set aside now to be confident that we’ll be able to meet our liabilities when they fall due. That’s why actuaries are so important to us. Actuaries make financial sense of the future. They apply mathematical, statistical and economic models and provide us with expert investment advice.
During your paid placement, you’ll gain invaluable first-hand, on-the-ground insight into the AXA business. Whether your placement’s in Pricing, Reserving, Capital Modelling, Risk Management, Business Finance or another business area, you’ll work closely with AXA people on real projects.
We’ve two Actuarial Internship Programmes available. One’s aimed at penultimate year undergraduates, lasting eight to ten weeks over the summer. The other’s aimed at Masters students, with intakes at various points between June and October.

Who should apply?

For both of our Actuarial Internships you’ll need to have a head for figures, that’s for definite. So we’d like you to have an A grade at A-level Mathematics (or an equivalent qualification). You’ll need to have achieved or be on course to achieve a 2:1 (or above) in a science-related, mathematical or highly numerical degree too. And because of this background, it goes without saying that you’re analytical and methodical as well as able to communicate your technical knowledge to influence others. Potential’s massively important to us and we’ll expect you to be a quick and keen learner. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be prepared for the high level of mathematical content and training required to become an Actuary.
