Deadline

20 Feb 2017

UK companies presently have over £1 trillion invested in pension schemes, more than the rest of Europe put together. That’s a breath taking sum, but the question remains whether individual companies have set aside enough to meet their obligations 20, 30 or even 40 years down the line. People are living longer than ever before and the recent economic turmoil has demonstrated why it is important for those who manage pension schemes to receive expert advice to help them to appropriately manage the risks faced by those schemes.
As a market leader in actuarial and investment consulting, Aon has been advising companies, trustees and governments on their pension schemes for over sixty years. Our consultants provide a wide range of advice relating to both the assets and liabilities of a pension scheme. This extends from advising on the amount of money to be paid into a pension scheme to meet the benefits promised to members, through to setting the investment strategy and monitoring it against changing economic conditions.

The role:

You will find that no two days in the office will be the same. You will be a key member of our dedicated team, playing a vital role in meeting the expectations of our global clients through the delivery of high-quality servicing and advice.
You will gain early experience of advising on a wide range of issues linked to pension schemes, including understanding how to adapt advice around changing economic conditions and outlooks. You will also learn how and why pension scheme liabilities change as a result of economic assumptions, such as inflation and interest rates and the effect that market movements have on invested assets.
Our aim is for you to develop into a “trusted adviser” for your clients as soon as possible. This will be achieved through developing not only your technical skills but your client skills too – including communication techniques, project management and networking.

Training and development:

Through our structured and intense graduate programme you will enjoy core technical and consulting workshops, giving you the skills and competencies needed to thrive as you gain on-the-job experience.
We will help you develop an in-depth understanding of economics and financial markets and as you progress through your career, you will have access to a menu of training options to supplement your experience and help you develop into a consultant more quickly.
In your first year, you will be expected to complete the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and specify whether you wish to take either the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Institute of Actuaries (IoA) professional qualification. Aon offers significant support through study material reimbursement, study days and tailored tutorials. We will support you in finding the balance between study towards your chosen professional qualification, your client work and life outside the office.

Requirements:

To apply, you will need to be educated to degree level with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent qualification. You will also need a minimum of a grade B at A’ Level Mathematics or equivalent.  We are looking for numerate graduates with a high level of commercial awareness, ambition, enthusiasm and strong written and verbal communication skills.
