Why did you join Aon’s graduate programme?

As part of my university degree I had a year in industry, which I was lucky enough to complete at Aon in 2017. At the time I was unsure of the career that I wanted to pursue, but from the experiences and opportunities I had throughout the year at Aon it was clear to me that this was where I wanted to be. I was offered a graduate position and, following my final year at university, I joined the Aon graduate programme in 2019.

What did you enjoy most about the Aon graduate programme?

The graduate programme at Aon does a great job of integrating all of new graduates who are going to work in various departments across Aon through a 2 week residential induction and business project you work on as teams. This integration is incredibly important for both individuals and Aon as I have built strong friendships and understand Aon’s full capabilities. The business project is great fun as you compete with your peers to be crowned graduate champions, with the team I was project manager of winning this year.

How you would describe the culture at Aon?

The culture at Aon was one of the main reasons I came back to Aon after my final year. The colleagues at Aon are very encouraging and supportive, showing a willingness to spend their time on your development and bringing the best out of you. There is a real ethos of team spirit within Aon, ensuring that the company and colleagues progress simultaneously. I have made very strong relationships with my colleagues, which have extended to outside of the office.

What’s next for you?

Building on what I learnt on my placement year, I am looking to further my technical knowledge and roles on my client teams to progress my career. Currently I am my office’s point of contact for the team in India, and I am looking forward to developing the relationship between the two locations. Through Aon’s continued support, I am also studying towards my professional actuarial qualification, with which I will be able to support my clients as a consultant.
