Are you interested in doing an actuarial internship? Check out Hymans Robertson Actuarial Internships to see if they are right for you…

Summer internships

We offer an eight-week, summer internship programme starting in July, with unprecedented opportunities to work with people from across the firm from day one.

Skills and projects

You’ll gain a strong understanding of the work our consultants do for our clients as well as a valuable range of skills for the workplace generally, including commercial awareness, communication and problem-solving skills. You’ll also be given the opportunity to apply those skills in real business situations.

We notice great work from our interns. You’ll be actively encouraged to take on new challenges and to get involved with projects from an early stage, working alongside some of the sharpest minds in the profession including our specialist teams and senior partners.

Hymans Robertson Actuarial Internships: Further opportunities

There’s the potential to secure a trainee consultant opportunity with us at the end of your internship. Our comprehensive study programme, with a generous bank of study days, will support you through the various exams and professional qualification process, and offers a completely individual plan of study with your appointed mentor, who will be a recently qualified consultant.

There’s no rigid programme that you have to stick to, and you can advance your career as quickly as you want and in your own way.

Entry requirements

As a successful intern you will have strong A level, ‘Higher’ or equivalent results, including a Grade B or above/Scottish Higher-Grade A or above in Mathematics and you’ll be working towards at least a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline. Whilst we have the above minimum entry requirements, we do use a contextualised tool that takes into consideration factors such as your school type and background.

Academic ability is only part of your story. You’re able to analyse an issue from a technical perspective, devise a creative, practical and coherent solution, and then help people understand and feel comfortable with your proposal. You’re also highly determined and have the drive to be successful.
