On June 7 2012 Panama became the 147th contracting state of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
This means that as of today (September 7 2012) the PCT will enter into force for Panama.
This means that PCT applications may be filed in Panama. Any application filed on or after 7 September will automatically include the designation of Panama.
The Treaty makes it possible to seek patent protection for an invention simultaneously in each of a large number of countries by filing an ‘international’ patent application.
